Legends of the Derby

THE PROJECT

The “Legends of the Derby” collection was inspired by the jockey silks of all the Triple Crown winners throughout history. The full collection of thirteen sneakers was on display at Churchill Downs for the 149th Kentucky Derby and auctioned exclusively to in-person attendees, with three pairs going through Southeby's. Each pair sold benefits The Secretariat Foundation.

Factory 8384's co-founder, Curtis Brown, conceived of the project to honor his late father, Louis “Tige” Brown, a lifelong racing enthusiast. Growing up, their family visited race tracks, and in 2015, Brown was able to visit the Kentucky Derby with his brother. The collection was designed to preserve these memories.
